Connecting audiences through culture, creativity and conversation.
Independent and advertisement-free, India Contemporary is supported by its community. We publish weekly stories and monthly features exploring art, culture, design, performance and ideas across India and its global communities. Through original reporting, criticism and creative voices, we examine cultural heritage and the people, practices and perspectives shaping contemporary culture today.
Your membership makes this work possible. It enables us to commission original journalism, remain free from advertising, publish our print editions, develop public programmes and events, and continue building an independent platform dedicated to contemporary Indian culture.
Membership provides unlimited access to every article we publish, including five new editorial stories each week: three shorter pieces covering previews, reviews, profiles, updates and discoveries, alongside two in-depth long reads in the form of essays, interviews and critical features. Throughout the year, we also publish additional coverage around major exhibitions, festivals, art fairs and other significant cultural moments.
Over the course of a year, members receive more than 260 original editorial stories, including over 100 substantial long reads and more than 150 shorter articles, offering an unparalleled perspective on contemporary culture across India and its global communities.
