Alok Johri is known for paintings that move between still life and the male figure. His work often explores intimacy, vulnerability, stillness, and quiet observation through a restrained but emotionally charged visual language. Of his work Still Life: Closet, the artist tells us “Nobody Belongs Here”.

Johri was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in 1970. He currently lives and works in Goa. His art spans painting, mixed media, and installation.

The artist studied Applied Arts, specialising in graphics and photography, at the College of Arts and Crafts in Lucknow. Before focusing fully on art, he worked in advertising as a Creative and Design Director at agencies including Ogilvy and JWT, and also worked as a photojournalist with the European Press Agency.
