Artist Devi Seetharam was born in Kerala. She currently lives and works in Bangalore.
In her work Mulla Poov (Jasmine) VI, the artist “brings to the fore Kerala’s ‘subtle’ patriarchal pillars” drawing from her memory of place, personal histories and larger social psyche.
Seetharam completed a BFA in Painting from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2011. Before returning to India in 2021, she lived across multiple countries including China, Cambodia, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Mauritius, the UAE, and Australia. Working primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, her work is shaped by histories, geographies, and the social fabric of diverse societies, revealing subtleties and harmonies within cultures that transcend borders.
Seetharam has exhibited internationally and across India. Her work has been shown at the Art Gallery New South Wales (Australia); Kochi-Muziris Biennale, The Textile Gallery at RAW Collaborative, Gandhinagar; Trivandrum Fine Arts College; and Blue Penny Museum, Port Louis (Mauritius).
