Born and brought up in India, Samanta Batra Mehta currently lives and works in New York, USA.
The artist describes her work Incantation 1: "My drawings, along with found antiquarian imagery, harvested from forgotten encyclopedias and herbaria, are re-animated here as offering and incantation through meticulous layering, repetition, and intention. The viewer is invited into a vortex, a living yantra, a space held open for meditation."
Samanta Batra Mehta is a self-taught artist who creates multi-layered artwork that is a commentary on the human condition and the environment we inhabit.
