The Haveli and Garden in Mukundgarh by Chris Corr is one of a number of works from his recent month long trip to India. Painted during his ten day stay at a haveli in Mukundgarh in Rajasthan, Corr states "It was my second visit to the Shekhawati region. I painted this scene from the roof of the house. It gave me a great view of one end of the building and the garden plus a good view of Mukundgarh too."
Christopher Corr is a British contemporary artist and illustrator celebrated for his vibrant, graphic depictions of cities, cultures, and everyday life around the world. Known for his bold use of color, simplified forms, and distinctive visual storytelling, Corr’s work captures the energy and character of places through a uniquely modern yet accessible lens.
After studying at the Royal College of Art in London, Corr developed a style that bridges fine art and illustration, combining hand-painted techniques with a strong graphic sensibility. His compositions often feature architectural landmarks, bustling street scenes, and cultural motifs, distilled into rhythmic patterns and luminous palettes that evoke both place and emotion.
Corr’s work is deeply influenced by travel. From India to Africa, Europe to the Americas, his paintings reflect a fascination with global urban life and the interplay between tradition and modernity. His India-inspired works, in particular, are recognized for their joyful color schemes and stylized interpretations of historic architecture and street culture.
A regular visitor to India since his first painting trip in 1988, Corr returns to India in September for his second trip this year.
