Tito Stanley was born in Abu Dhabi to Indian parents, and raised in Kerala. He is currently based in Vadodara, Gujarat. The painter is known for his vibrant, symbolic, and emotionally layered artworks that explore themes of identity, memory, displacement, and spirituality. His lived experience of moving between places and the questions of identity it brings.
Land Above the Pink is one of a series of 12 small sized paintings completed by the artist in 2025. He describes the work as “a painting immersed in a dense Persian pink expanse that feels both celestial and terrestrial, blurring the boundaries between sky, cloud, and ground. The pink dominates not merely as a color, but as an emotional field—soft yet overwhelming, tender yet unsettling. I perceive this color as embodying an open wound, through which the landscape unfolds into an emotional drama, negotiating themes of affection and the quiet presence of mortality within it”.
Tito Stanley graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in 2019 and received his Masters in Visual Art (Painting) from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujurat in 2022.
Stanley’s works have been part of the Student’s Biennale in Kochi (2016), the annual shows at Kerala Lalithakala Akademi (2016, 2019, 2021, 2022). He has also been the recipient of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Exhibition Grant (2019), the Shrishti AIF Grant (2020), and the PDAF Emerging Artist Kalanand Award (2022).
